About ACKTI It could be years before the U.S. government next negotiates an arms control agreement with monitoring and verification measures. If critical knowledge is not transferred now, insights from those with first-hand experience negotiating and supporting arms control agreements could be lost. It is therefore essential that the U.S. government have a mechanism for capturing critical insights and lessons learned and transferring essential knowledge to the next generation. To address this gap, the Center for Strategic and International Studies’ (CSIS) Project on Nuclear Issues (PONI) has launched the Arms Control Knowledge Transfer Initiative (ACKTI), a program designed to preserve knowledge through senior expert interviews and primary source archival research, to educate the next generation of arms control experts on all aspects of arms control, including negotiation, implementation, inspection, and more. Senior Expert Interviews The Negotiator Files is a senior expert interview series created to gather knowledge to educate the next generation of arms control experts on all aspects of arms control, including negotiation, implementation, inspection, and more. The interviews were conducted by Dr. Amy Nelson, Senior Fellow at New America in the Future Security Program.
