About the Next Generation Nuclear Network Blog

As a bipartisan nonprofit policy research organization, the Center for Strategic and International Studies is dedicated to advancing practical ideas that address the world’s greatest challenges. CSIS’s purpose is to define the future of national security, and we work toward a vision of a safer and more prosperous world.

CSIS launched the Project on Nuclear Issues in 2003 to develop the next generation of policy, technical, and operational nuclear professionals through outreach, mentorship, research, and debate. As part of its work, PONI maintains the Next Generation Nuclear Network blog as a space for the next generation to share their analysis with the nuclear and broader national security policy community.

Submission Guidelines

PONI’s NGNN Guest Authors are held to a high standard in their research, analysis, and writing. Please ensure that your blog post submission is consistent with the guidelines listed below:

  • BLUF: Submissions should include a BLUF (bottom line up front) statement in the first paragraph that concisely conveys the core argument.
  • Writing Style: Avoid passive voice, uncommon acronyms, and jargon. When necessary, submissions should define and explain terms for readers.
  • Grammar/Mechanics: Submissions should be thoroughly proofread before we receive them.
  • Length: Submissions should be between 900 and 1,500 words.
  • Citations: Citations should be included as embedded hyperlinks.
  • Plagiarism: PONI will reject any submission that has been plagiarized or generated using artificial intelligence. Harvard University defines what constitutes plagiarism as drawing “any idea or any language from someone else without adequately crediting that source in your paper.”
