Please join the Project on Nuclear Issues (PONI) for our February 2023 Winter Conference, hosted in Honolulu in partnership with Pacific Forum. This in-person conference will feature a keynote address as well as presentations from emerging nuclear experts on deterrence-related topics, including:

  • Escalation prevention and management
  • Technology and deterrence
  • Allies and extended deterrence
  • The evolving deterrence landscape

Presentation proposals on other deterrence-related topics will be equally considered.

Undergraduate, masters, and PhD students, as well post-Docs, fellows, and junior officers are invited to apply for Winter Conference. PONI will cover travel expenses for accepted applicants.

Why Apply?

The PONI Conference Series is unique in its emphasis on featuring rising experts and young professionals in the nuclear field. The Conference Series draws emerging thought leaders from across the nuclear enterprise and policy community and provides them with a visible platform for sharing their new thinking on a range of nuclear issues.

PONI conferences provide excellent opportunities for rising professionals to present and receive feedback on their research from a diverse field of experts in the nuclear community. It is also a great opportunity to build connections with academics, national lab representatives, military officials, policymakers, and industry representatives across the nuclear enterprise.
