Colonel Scott Pence, U.S. Army, is a senior military fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). He served as the book briefer to the secretary of defense on the Joint Staff, the garrison commander of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and as a tactical airborne cavalry squadron commander with the 82nd Airborne Division.
