About this Event

Nuclear weapons have been in the news a lot recently, but what are they for? What can they do? Why do they matter? This panel discussion, with nuclear policy experts Joe Cirincione and Abigail Stowe-Thurston, and Akolade Gbadamosi (Community Representative for Congresswoman Ilhan Omar) will take a step back from wonky techno-speak that dominates news coverage and instead consider how nuclear issues intersect with other critical issues including climate change, government spending and restoring our democracy. The purpose of this event is to promote a lively discussion about nuclear risks among participants with a variety of personal, academic, and professional backgrounds.

Co-hosted by Abigail Stowe-Thurston of Council For A Livable World, Ploughshares Fund President Joe Cirincione and Akolade Gbadamosi, Community Representative for Congresswoman Ilhan Omar. Room 206 of the Theater Building.
