On May 2, 2019, the United States announced that it would sanction any export of Iranian oil and no longer grant waivers for countries seeking to import limited amounts of Iranian crude. In recent months, the US has also designated Iran’s Revolutionary Guards as a foreign terrorist organization and personally sanctioned the country’s Supreme Leader and its foreign minister as well as companies and individuals seeking to circumvent sanctions. Sanctions have severly impacted Iran’s economy and subsequently the average Iranian. To discuss new public opinion data gathered in Iran over the past six months, please join the Atlantic Council’s Future of Iran Initiative and the Center for International and Security Studies at Maryland for a panel discussion on the subject. The panel will take a closer look at Iranian attitudes to a broad set of issues, including Iran’s regional influence, Iranian relations with the West, and the Iranian nuclear deal.
