The Defence Policy and Planning (DPP) Division has the lead role on the defence-related aspects of NATO’s fundamental security tasks at the political-military level. Within the DPP Division, the Nuclear Policy Directorate (NPD) is responsible for all aspects of NATO nuclear deterrence.

The incumbent will support the Director, Nuclear Policy Directorate, including in her/his role as Chair of the Nuclear Planning Group (NPG) Staff Group, in the development and implementation of NATO’s plans, policies and defence activities related to nuclear deterrence. S/he will contribute to the support of the administrative preparations and work of the NPG and its subordinate bodies by preparing and finalising documents, including memos and decision sheets.  S/he will be responsible for providing support for events conducted and/or supported by NPD, including, for example, the Nuclear Policy Symposium, the annual Nuclear Consultation Meeting, the ABLE STAFF Exercise and of the activities related to exercises.

The incumbent will contribute to the development of public material that address NATO’s nuclear policy. He/she will also perform any other related tasks, as required by the Director, Nuclear Policy.
